Our Marrakesh Hotel and Gourmet Venues

This is the entry to our beautiful botique hotel - The Villa Amira.

The grand lobby. The Villa Amira is actually a villa converted to support only ten guest rooms. The rate includes a full breakfast which is served in the living room. There is no dining room. No other meals are served.

The workmanship in this georgeous villa is something to behold.

The tile walls are actually not square tiles as we are familiar with. Instead, the artisans used individually cut and shaped small pieces to make up the tile mosiac. This type of work covers the walls of the common areas of the hotel.

The ground floor of the building is a spa. Swimming pool outside, Hot baths and massage rooms behind the camera.

Another angle shows the doors on the left which open to the baths and massage areas.

The pool area. Our room was on the first floor, the one with the curtains shading the terrace on the left.

Since the Villa Amira did not serve evening meals (or lunch), we set out to find a suitable venue for meals in the local neighborhood. We were directed to walk down the road about a half kilometer to a collection of exclusive tourist hotels. We liked the look of this one and gave it a try. It is the Hotel Tichka. Remenber that if you are ever looking for superb cuisine.

While the dining room of the Hotel Tichka is beautifully impressive, that is not where we ate. Hidden off to the right beyond the dining room is a fantastic dining cabaret, The Johara.

The view from our table in Johara. After eating here the first night, we came back every night after simply because we didn't think we could find a better chef and venue. Each meal was simply superb. A combination of French and Moroccan. Off to the right is a small Moroccan musical group providing local music accompanyment.
